A word about us and how we started
Clos Du Marquis Traiteur has been trading for six years and was established when we saw a niche in the market for really 'fresh' homemade foie gras de canard (not jarred or tinned). Our realisation has proved right with the company experiencing a huge growth from nearly 50 kgs the first year to 1000 kgs this year.
To date we have never advertised our products and our success has been purely led by our customers recommendation. The quality of our product speaks for itself, however, we now feel that is time to offer our products to a wider market. We will always stay a very small business. That way we can assure that quality and service is maintained to the highest level. Our kitchen has the highest health and safety rating and is inspected on a regular basis.

In the heart of the Test River Valley, in keeping with the atmosphere of a Country Inn , Clos du Marquis offers the quaint elegance of a "French Auberge" with small beamed dining rooms and a lounge with log fires in winter.
Paris born Germain Marquis who from a tender age watched his maternal grand-mother cooking -(Personal chef of Cartier Founder Mr Louis Cartier) was taken under the wing of his friend Alain Dutournier, an acclaimed chef in France. Whilst working with Alain, at "Le Trou Gascon in Paris" he learned to appreciate and respect the authenticity of the products and shares with enthusiasm his philosophy:
"If tradition is my first source of inspiration, the simple idea to bring you some happiness is certainly the second”
Fresh products, tradition and a pinch of novelty are at the heart of our cuisine. No extravagant presentation but rather a concentration on flavours and quality.
